Administration and Organization
At all three universities, the interdisciplinary PhD program in Materials Science draws on various colleges and academic divisions. At UA, the program is supported by departments in both the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering. At UAB, the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, and Optometry are involved, as are the School of Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences. At UAH, the College of Engineering and the College of Science participate in the program. The degree awarded to each successful candidate is the PhD Degree in Materials Science.
The PhD program in Materials Science is coordinated by the Tricampus Materials Science Coordinating Committee.

Campus Materials Science Program Committee
This committee administers the program on each campus included in the University of Alabama System, and each Campus Materials Science Program Committee is independently chaired by the program coordinator respective to that campus.
